Fall 2007 Fashion House in Partnership with DC Magazine

The Washington Design Center and DC Magazine selected eight fall fashion trends straight from the runway for area interior designers to reinterpret for the home front. Design House offers the public a unique opportunity to see the world’s most beautiful home furnishings and accessories brought to life through the designer’s eyes. See first-hand the fantastic work of a crop of stylish, fashion-forward interior designers at The Washington Design Center:

Barbara Hawthorn of Barbara Hawthorn Interiors, Ltd.
Metallic, Sparkle and Shine Kitchen—The Fall 2007 collections feature glitter and glam. Large metallic jewelry, sequined jackets and studded accessories like purses and shoes.

Susan Gulick of Susan Gulick Interiors
Café Artistes Living Room—Op art is back in vogue, as seen in collections by Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Etro, Diane Von Furstenberg and Akris.

Dolly Howarth of Howarth Designs
High Gloss Finish Bedroom—Patent leather continues to be big for fall and in color, color, color. See Donna Karan, MaxMara, Marni and Dolce & Gabbana

CeliaWelch of CeliaWelch Interiors
Black and White and Minimal Allover Dining Room— Even without graphics, the white blouse/black pant combo is no longer boring. Check out Ralph Lauren for sophistication, Collette Dinnigan for glamour, 3.1 Phillip Lim for pluck and Tuleh for poeticism.

Dominique Alexander of City Style Interiors
Turning Up the Turq Sitting Room—A dark turquoise jewel tone appears to have replaced spring’s yellow as the current hot hue. See Alexander McQueen, Narciso Rodriguez and Versace for just a few versions of the rich color, deep enough for fall and winter.

Dan Banks of Project Design Company
Getting Cable Entry—Cozy cable knits continue to grow in ubiquity, thickness and size. See Proenza Schouler for grandma’s knit pearl one two three in a thoroughly modern shape. See Emporio Armani and Sonia Rykiel for sweaters gone elegant.

H. Dawn Patrick Wout of About Interiors
Birds of a Feather Lounge—Stick together with plumes, plumes and more plumes. See Bill Blass, Louis Vuitton, Isaac Mizrahi, Marchesa and Chado Ralph Rucci. Peacocks, ostrich and smaller feathers continue to wow, but the palate is often more neutral so that the feathers themselves can feature more prominently.

Claudia Powell of Claudia L. Powell Interiors in partnership with Gregory Tinius of Tinius-Arts
Chanel Redux—a 21st-Century Art Salon Gallery—Like Lagerfeld states, the look of Chanel is happy, familiar yet fresh, satisfyingly indulgent and as easy to wear as a suntan (which Coco popularized, natch).
