On November 30, Mark Bailey and Edward Hemingway visited The Washington Design Center to celebrate the publication of Hemingway & Bailey’s Bartending Guide to Great American Writers. In appreciation of the Design Center, showroom personnel dined on delicious food, sipped on Planter’s Punch (recipe from the book) and received copies of this informative bartending guide. Quoted from John O’Hara, author of Butterfield 8, whose favorite concoction was the Planter’s Punch, “I started Thursday. By Saturday morning I’d drunk myself sober.” Additional books are available at your local bookstore.

The inaugural Georgetown Jingle charity event held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown on December 3 was a huge success! More than $250,000 was raised to benefit The Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Aziza Shad, program director, leads an extraordinary team of internationally recognized specialists in the field of pediatric cancer and blood disorders at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center—the only National Cancer Institute- designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Washington, DC area.

The Washington Design Center, Georgetown Hospital, The Four Seasons and JDS Design would like to sincerely thank all of the participating designers, sponsors, showrooms, manufacturers, attendees and volunteers that contributed to making the Georgetown Jingle a fabulous event.

If you are interested in participating or volunteering in 2007, please contact Julia Chappell at jchappell@mmart.com.
