Edgy, yet soft, varied of textured patterns are geometric in shape. “Byblos” is a bold diagonal; “Equinox,” a series of circles; “Morgan’s Cloth,” rounded eyelets; “Metropole,” a rectangular basketweave; “Raj Chenille,” an Imperial Tiger stripe. Hinson Soft Geometry a cutting-edge addition for spring 2007.

Hinson is sparking its premier Lighting Collection with the re-launch of the exquisitely designed Robsjohn-Gibbings Classic Square Marble Table Lamp. The Classic Square Marble Table Lamp was designed originally by T.H Robsjohn-Gibbings for George Hansen in 1952 at the pinnacle of his renowned, international career. Long a favorite of the famed Florence Knoll, the only lamp ever displayed in her Madison Avenue Showroom, the design is impeccable in its stunning simplicity. A sculptural square column, in white or black marble, stands 271/2” high and is 4” at its base. Less, typically is more, in Robsjohn-Gibbings’ design concept. His is the absolute understatement of elegance. It is one that continues to transcend time. It works…no matter when or where. Suite 410, 202.646.0260

Decorative Carpets

Atelier Lapchi at J.Asher provided carpets for the Singapore Embassy in Washington, DC. His Excellency Heng Chee Chan, Ambassador to the United States from Singapore, has chosen a Lapchi designed carpet for his new office. The design—Sahara—is a sophisticated tonal derivation from the Pangden or Tibetan Apron knotted in wool and silk. By favoring the more traditional aesthetic of the multi-coloured apron, this carpet utilizes a soft palate of cream, olive, maize and tyrian to coordinate with design elements featured throughout the Embassy. Even when paint is applied, it is rubbed through so that the rich and natural qualities of the wood remain visible. Suite 540, 202.479.0144

Lee Jofa
Groundworks is pleased to announce the launch of Solarium II, the second installment from its indoor/outdoor fabric program. This winter’s second collection emphasizes strong graphic patterns and lively colorations. In specific, the Groundworks

collection is oriented towards an ethnic-tribal mood. Plenty of animal skins and geometric Africana fill the repertoire, straddling modernist chic and retreat lodge styles. The feeling is exotic yet grounded, more Capetown than South Beach and more romantic than rugged. A good vacation in the sun can be a font of inspiration: the colors of nature intensify one’s perception, the fresh air clears the mind. So it’s no surprise that a trip to the island of Sardinia provided the spark for Lee Jofa’s latest house collection of fabrics, the Italian-named SARDEGNA. The collection channels a spirit of mid-century beach season glamour: think Babe Paley and CZ Guest in Palm Beach, or the Bahamian idylls of 1970’s-era David Hicks. (Not coincidentally, Sardinia’s major development as a jet-set holiday destination occurred in the 1950’s and 60’s.) Designs satisfy with a bold, clean graphic quality, in keeping with newer vogues for bright colors and patterns and fresh, sunny contrasts in decorating. Suite 518, 202.863.1300
