In the fall, international style icon Allegra Hicks brought her celebrated textile designs to the U.S. through Lee Jofa. In a unique arrangement, the distinguished fabric house will serve as the exclusive North American distributor for Ms. Hicks’ imported collection, via its fashionforward Groundworks label.

Many of the collection’s prints, such as the gingko leaf-inspired FANS or the willowy-abstract renditions of DANDELION and WISTERIA, focus on simple pairings of ground cloth color with a monochrome patterning. The influences of Hicks’ fashion palette are evident in this season’s combinations of vibrant pink on espresso, pale sage on a rich, dark drab olive and luminescent shades of coral or turquoise on chocolate. Many subdued choices abide, as well, on lighter, neutral grounds, for more of a natural feeling. Plus, a sheer variation of FANS, with white pigment overprinting on the lightest white cotton voile, is the picture of summer—fresh, crisp and dreamy. Suite 518, 202.863.1300

Schumacher
Two icons of American design have joined forces to create Jamie Drake for Schumacher, one of Spring’s hottest fabric collections. These wovens and prints combine Jamie’s bold and sophisticated sense of color and style with Schumacher’s dedication to timeless design and textiles of the highest quality.
“I have followed fashion my entire life and I think one can see how it has informed the collection,” Jamie said. “From silk tweeds to striped cottons it’s more like dressing the sofa than upholstering it. I like to think that if Tara had been decorated in my fabrics, Scarlett wouldn’t have stopped with the curtains. She would have ripped up the sofas and chairs too to make a whole wardrobe!” Silks, velvets, lampas and moiré take on a decidedly modern point of view in this exciting new collection. From unexpected twists on tweed to sophisticated silks to luxurious lampas, this collection embodies contemporary American glamour. Look for Jamie Drake for Schumacher in showrooms this spring! Architectural Ceramics
Architectural Ceramics, Inc. is proud to introduce the new Mikado line from Emil Ceramica. The name Mikado derives from the well-known oriental game played with wooden or ivory sticks. These were held in a bunch, allowed to fall randomly in a pile and then the sticks were removed one at a time. Mikado refers to this set of thin strips of natural wood which, carefully assembled and glued, create interesting wooden modules. Famous architects such as Alvar Aalto and Adolf Loos used and preferred very strong laminated wood to avoid monotomy and bring life to elegant surfaces, giving a perfect refined finish to both large and small rooms.
