Market Square Chicago Shopping Guide
A Quick and Easy Guide for Shopping the Resources of Market Square
Open Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 15th floor of The Merchandise Mart—Market Square Chicago—is open to the trade only and serves both design professionals and retailers daily. Market Square Chicago also actively participates in many of the large trade shows and markets in the building throughout the year, including NeoCon® World’s Trade Fair, the International Casual Furniture & Accessories Market™, Design Chicago and The Chicago Market: Living and Giving™. Market Square serves a diverse audience by offering a wide selection of product to complete any living space—indoor and outdoor. Each showroom features its own style and product selection from a rep group or manufacturers and as you shop, you may find differences in pricing between showrooms. Each showroom operates its business independently and works hard to meet your needs.
Pricing
As you enter each showroom for the first time, ask the showroom manager how their pricing structure works. You will want to establish an account and understand the company’s manufactures. Some showrooms represent many different product lines, and therefore each product line may have its own pricing structure. You are likely to find one of the following pricing scenarios:
- A minimum purchase dollar amount (often 2 lamps or 4 serving pieces meets this requirement)
- A wholesale price (net price with no minimum requirement)
- A retail pricing sticker (list price), OR
- A 2-tier or 3-tier pricing structure that incorporates variations of the above (similar to contract pricing)
Customization
Select showrooms offer customization on lighting, bedding, upholstery, furniture, artwork and more. Be sure to ask the showroom staff about the opportunities you have to make each piece tailored to your client or retail store.
