A Community Unites to Feed Those in Need
Event Beneficiary: The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, a not-for-profit food distribution center committed to providing nutritionally balanced meals to men, women and children who face hunger throughout Los Angeles.
The gifts given directly to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank
are distributed through its network of more than 1,000 citywide charities.
Just $1 donated provides $12 worth of food.
Event Overview: Throughout the month of November and as part of the Thanksgiving holiday season, “Sharing It” Day unites various Los Angeles corporate, community and local government partners serving as donation sites, collecting food and/or monetary contributions to benefit the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.
On Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, “Sharing It” Day partners, honored guests and VIP dignitaries will gather at the L.A. Mart along with city politicos for entertainment and a special reception and presentation to the executive director and key staff of the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.

To Make a Donation or Throughout the month of November, the public is invited to
to Participate: make food and/or monetary donations at the L.A. Mart as well as any of the various local partner sites. On Nov. 18, businesses, organizations and individual donors are asked to join in the fight against hunger by bringing nonperishable food items and/or cash donations to the L.A. Mart’s Main Lobby during the official “Sharing It” Day festivities.

Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is a private, nonprofit, charitable organization that has been serving the disadvantaged of the Los Angeles community for 31 years. It is at the heart of a charitable food distribution network that includes more than 1,000 charities in Los Angeles County. A voluntary board of directors provides guidance and oversight for Foodbank activities. The year 2004 marks the Foodbank's 31st year of service to the residents of Los Angeles County. Over the years, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank has grown in size, service and scope. Today the Foodbank provides food for abused and abandoned children, battered women, the elderly, the disabled, the unemployed, those afflicted with AIDS and the working poor. In 2002 alone, its volunteers, financial supporters and product donors made it possible for the foodbank to distribute 45 million pounds of food for the hungry in Los Angeles county.
