ACCLAIMED DESIGNER ALEXA HAMPTON TO PRESENT

L.A. MART® DESIGN CENTER’S NEXT DESIGNERS’ FORUM

LOS ANGELES (July 28, 2005) – Alexa Hampton, renowned interior designer and president of Mark Hampton, Inc., shares her inspiration and legacy as she presents “Decades of Design at Mark Hampton, Inc.” at the next installment in the L.A. Mart® Design Center’s 2005 Designers’ Forum lecture series on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005.

Hampton’s presentation serves as an informative and exciting journey through the past, present and future of design and features the works of her renowned father and her own designs for the 21st century. 

“We are very excited to host Alexa Hampton for our upcoming Designers’ Forum program,” said Jeff Sampson, director of marketing, L.A. Mart Design Center. “An accomplished design professional in her own right with a celebrated lineage, Ms. Hampton is renowned for her signature interiors, furniture collections for Hickory Chair and fabric lines for Kravet/Lee Jofa, available at the L.A. Mart Design Center. This is a rare treat for the Southern California design community.”

Designers’ Forum begins at 10 a.m. with a continental breakfast hosted in L.A. Mart’s 2nd-floor seminar room, Suite 295, and is followed by the 10:30 a.m. lecture presentation. A reception with Alexa Hampton will follow the presentation at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the Kravet/Lee Jofa showroom, Suite 142.

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) will offer 0.1 CEU credit to industry professionals. Clients accompanied by their designers are welcome. With limited seating, designers are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the program. ABOUT ALEXA HAMPTON

Alexa Hampton is the president and featured designer of Mark Hampton, Inc., the world-famous design firm founded in 1976 by her late father, Mark Hampton. Under Hampton’s direction, the firm has completed a wide range of designs for domestic and international projects, including apartments and large residences, private airplanes and yachts. Recently, Hampton was selected by the Trowbridge House Foundation to be the interior designer for Trowbridge House, the new official guest house for former presidents of the United States in Washington, D.C.

For the past three years she has been chosen by Architectural Digest as one of the “AD 100,” and House Beautiful also has acknowledged her in its annual “America’s Best 100 Designers” list since 1999. In 2002, New York Magazine named her one of New York’s “100 Best Architects and Decorators.”

Hampton has designed a line of woven fabrics for Kravet Fabrics, Inc. under the label “Alexa Hampton for the Mark Hampton Signature Collection.” In 2004, a more comprehensive line of fabrics, “Alexa Hampton Designs,” was launched and her collection of trims for Kravet Fabrics will be introduced in fall 2005. In addition, she continues to design furniture for Hickory Chair Co.’s “Mark Hampton Collection,” and her own furniture line, “The Alexa Hampton Collection,” was launched by Hickory Chair Co. in spring 2005.
