Opens at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago
Save the Date for an Open House on Thursday, November 10
One of the country’s most stylish cities just became even more alluring with the opening of Niermann Weeks’ newest showroom at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. In addition to the high-end, customizable furniture, lighting and accessories that have made Niermann Weeks one of the most sought-after names in the interior design industry, the showroom features several well-known, represented accessory and textile lines making their Midwest debut.
The new, 8700-square-foot showroom, located in Suite 1820 on the 18th floor of the Merchandise Mart, features a classic enfilade floor plan. A long hallway anchors the space while serving as a backdrop for a stunning display of several oversize chandeliers. Doorways lead from the central axis into rooms that house Niermann Weeks’ extensive collection of furnishings, accessories, textiles and lighting, set against monolithic walls and poured, glazed concrete floors. While the layout and arrangement are reminiscent of Niermann Weeks’ New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., showrooms, the Chicago showroom has been merchandised with several pieces that reflect local tastes and style.
“Vistas and sight lines played important roles in this floor plan,” said Eleanor Niermann, Vice President of Merchandising for Niermann Weeks, who contributed to the design of the new space. “We favor a minimal aesthetic for our showrooms to that the space becomes a clean backdrop to showcase our furniture and lighting.”
In addition to beautifully handcrafted home furnishings and clean architecture, excellent customer service helps distinguish Niermann Weeks showrooms as truly unique within crowded markets.
“Based on our history within the Chicago market, we are confident that our new showroom will be very successful,” Eleanor Niermann said. “We’re enthusiastic about enhancing our presence in this important market, and we’re eager to become integral members of the Chicago design community.”
Niermann Weeks’ home furnishings, lighting, accessories and textiles are sold to architects and designers through Company-owned showrooms in Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C., and 16 represented showrooms nationwide. A small selection of accessories is available to consumers through stocking dealers throughout the United States.
A Modern Approach to Classic Design
Niermann Weeks’ extraordinary style results from careful attention to detail, evident in both the wonderful texture of its finishes and the pure economy of its design line and scale. For every piece in its extensive collection of furniture, lighting and accessories, the Company’s designs borrow elements from the past and reinterpret them to fit current lifestyles. Most of Niermann Weeks’ 600 standard designs can be customized using the Company’s 500 faux and clear finishes. As a result, Niermann Weeks designs enhance both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Unlike companies which mass-produce pieces in factories overseas, most of Niermann Weeks’ home furnishings are manufactured by hand using antique tools. More than 140 skilled artisans create Niermann Weeks furnishings at the Company’s modern manufacturing facility outside Annapolis, Maryland. Niermann Weeks’ forte is finishing, the result of many layers of paint, glazing, or clear-coats that give each piece an extraordinarily rich, tactile feel.
Niermann Weeks’ Chicago showroom features a large selection of the Company’s most popular furniture, lighting, accessories and textiles, as well as several new products. The showroom also offers Niermann Weeks’ Quick Ship program, which includes a range of products available for shipment within a three weeks. In addition to the Company’s own products, the showroom represents several textile and home furnishing lines, including furniture and accessories from well-known manufacturers such as Mimi London, Gemelli, Nininger & Co., Savel, Inc., Allan Knight and Associates and National Upholstering.
Niermann Weeks designs borrow elements from the past and reinterpret them to fit current lifestyles, aesthetically relating to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Over 40 percent of the Company’s business is custom-designed to meet the special needs of professional architect and designer clients. The Niermann Weeks library includes more than 600 standard designs with 500 faux and clear finishes, available through more than 20 to-the-trade designer showrooms in the United States, Canada and England. Niermann Weeks’ Quick Ship program includes a special selection of the Company’s most popular merchandise, stocked and available for immediate shipment.
