THE ONE OF A KIND SHOW AND SALE® CHICAGO RETURNS TO
THE MERCHANDISE MART WITH AN ADDITIONAL DAY TO SHOP
CHICAGO (September 28, 2007) – The One of a Kind Show and Sale®, the annual holiday shopping extravaganza featuring 450 artists, artisans and designers selling paintings, photography, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, glass, fashion, jewelry and more, returns to The Merchandise Mart with an exciting roster of exhibitors and an additional day to shop. New for 2007, the Show will open at noon on Thursday, December 6 and run through Sunday, December 9.
Open to the public, the Show is both the top winter fine art and fine craft exhibition and sale in the city and the best place to shop for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. The One of a Kind Show and Sale® Chicago offers original work from carefully selected juried artists and artisans from across North America, showcasing and selling their finest art and handcrafted creations. Visitors can meet the artists, learn the stories behind their work and shop the best in fine art and fine craft—from the simple to the lavish.
More than 30,000 people will walk the 8th floor of The Merchandise Mart in search of that perfect piece. And guests will enjoy the on-site amenities and services that make shopping the Show enjoyable, like packaging and shipping services, a child care center, coat and package check, a sports lounge and several gourmet cafés with full service bars.
”The One of A Kind Show and Sale is a rare opportunity to see hundreds of unique pieces of art and actually meet the artist behind the work,” said Joan Ulrich, senior vice president, Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. (MMPI). “This will be the top destination for anyone looking to give those on their holiday gift lists something different this year.”
The Opening Day of the Show, Thursday, December 6, will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital. The hospital will receive 100% of Thursday’s ticket sales. In addition, several exhibiting artists will donate a percentage of their sales that day to the hospital.
General admission to the One of a Kind Show and Sale is $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students with a valid student ID. Children under 12 years of age are free. Tickets may be purchased on the show website www.oneofakindshow.com at a special discount price of $7 per ticket. Tickets may also be purchased onsite at The Merchandise Mart during the show hours.
The One of a Kind Show and Sale was recently selected as one of Sunshine Artist magazine's 2007 Top 25 Fine Art & Design Shows.
